My Story
I first became aware of the dangers of radon gas back in 2007, when Canadian Coast Guard stations and federal buildings across the country were being tested. At the time, I never imagined that this invisible threat would one day touch my own home and family.

In 2020, when Kimberley became my full-time home, I received a notice from Health Canada encouraging everyone to test their homes for radon. Curious and concerned, I began testing not only my rental properties but also the homes of friends. What I discovered was alarming: most homes in Kimberley were far above Health Canada’s guideline of 100 Bq/m³.

Determined to make a difference, I built my first radon mitigation system with the help of a friend, successfully reducing radon levels in that home to under 30 Bq/m³. But the most personal wake-up call came when I tested my own home in Upper Chapman Camp. The results were staggering — over 900 Bq/m³. That’s a level of radon exposure more dangerous than smoking two packs of cigarettes a day, right where my family and children live and play.

Helping people and standing up for safety has always been part of who I am. I spent more than a decade serving as a member of the Canadian Coast Guard and the North Shore Search and Rescue team, experiences that taught me the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and protecting others.

Now, through encouraging radon testing and providing mitigation solutions, I’ve found a way to continue that same mission: supporting a healthy and safe way of life for families in our community. I’m committed to making homes safer, raising awareness about this silent danger, and giving families peace of mind — because everyone deserves to breathe freely in the place they call home.
